  • Babysitting 101

    Emergency Outfitters This course is best suited for 10-13 year olds interested in learning the current practices of caring for young children and how to manage their babysitting business. Students will learn safety and injury prevention, first aid basics, feeding and caring for infants and how to handle behavior problems. Students will receive a reference book, handouts, babysitting bag and first aid kit. Please bring a writing utensil, snacks, beverage(s), and lunch. Food will not be provided. Parents - please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the end of class to pick up your child.

    CSB/SJU Computer Science Club & Patty Peschel, Albany Area Schools Teacher Do you enjoy a good puzzle? Are you creative, and love to tackle problems in many different ways? Do you want to learn what Computer Science is all about and become a better problem solver along the way? CS Club is open to all students in grades 6-8. In CS Club, you will learn about coding and so much more. You will get to solve puzzles, learn how computers store information and communicate and practice working in a team. You will even get to program a real robot using Scratch! To start, we will come up with creative solutions for puzzles and challenges, and by the end of the 6-week program, we will be using our coding skills to help robots solve problems in the real world. Creativity is key, and no two solutions are ever quite the same!

Hosted by the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John’s University students, this evening is open to all ages interested in learning about coding, robotics and website development. No experience required. Individuals, groups and families are all welcome. Come to the Free Kick off Night on Thursday, September 18 at 5:30 pm in the MSHS District office conference room!     Get Outdoors MN Join us for a unique and exhilarating experience under the stars! We will go on a guided nighttime hike that will take you on a journey through the wonders of the dark. All hikes are guided, and glow sticks are provided to create a magical atmosphere. Enjoy a s'more smorgasbord around the campfire as you listen to the sounds of the night. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Huskie Archery Team

    Albany Area Community Education is proud to offer the National Archery in the Schools Program. Both new and returning archery students are welcome! Our trained instructors will focus on teaching proper skills and safety for the sport of archery. All necessary equipment for participation is provided. Only NASP approved equipment is permitted to be used in practice or at tournaments (personal Genesis Bows will be allowed but must be approved by coaching staff prior to use). Practices will be held on Sunday evenings in the BECC. Additional practices may be added, depending on gym and coach availability. New archery team members will be required to do safety training the first evening of class. Layout for practices will be a little different this year: First 3 Practices: Separated by Beginners or Returning Sun Dec 7, 14, 21 Beginners (First Time in NASP or first time was this past summer): 5:00-6:00 pm Returning (In NASP Last Season): 6:00-7:00 pm Remaining Practices: Choose Your Time Preference Sun Jan 4-Mar 29 (No Class 12/28, 1/25, 3/8, or 3/22) The last practice will be the banquet which is included in this cost. Session 1: 5:00-6:00 pm OR Session 2: 6:00-7:00 pm You will select your preference for practice time in Eleyo upon registration. We will do our best to accommodate your preference. Please be checking your emails as we send out lots of updates in this program. Archery is coached by volunteer coaches that have gone through training and background checks. We could not do this program without their commitment, so please make sure to thank them and be respectful of their time. Parents are asked to be quiet during practices and to keep other children at home if possible. No food or drink should be brought into the BECC. Tournaments will be held on Saturdays at the below locations. Everyone will be registered for the Albany Huskie Archery Tournament on February 21, 2026. All other tournament registrations are optional and will be an additional fee of $10 per tournament. Tournament registration and deadlines to register will be shared as they are made available. Parents will be responsible for transporting their students to tournaments. Team members participating in tournaments will be assigned a one-hour flight slot and they will be free to leave after their flight. You must participate in 2 tournaments in order to be eligible at the state tournament.   • Huskie Sports Performance-Fundamentals

    Aaron Schwenzfeier, Strength & Conditioning Coach Huskie Sports Performance-Fundamentals introduces athletes to developmentally appropriate training with the most up to date training methods for middle school age students. Consistent time and effort spent training in the program will translate into improved performance in any athlete’s respective sport. Monthly sessions will be held from 7:15-8:00 am in the MSHS Weight Room.

    Tech Academy ntro to 3D Printing ►Grades 3-6 This 3D printing camp takes students through the 3D printing process from start to finish. Students will design their own keychains! No 3D printing experience is necessary, but familiarity with common tasks like using a computer and keyboarding is required. One design will be printed offline and mailed home. Students will practice their mental math, observe and continue patterns, solve basic functions, witness probability concepts, and relate sets and combinations.     Albany Dance Team Coaches & Athletes You are invited to dance with the Albany Huskies Dance Team! We will learn skills that the Huskies use during winter season, play fun dance activities, as well as learn and perform a routine at the halftime of the Varsity Football Game. A meal will be provided. Participants will need to be picked up immediately following the halftime show by the outdoor stairs near the BECC. Please register before September 19th to guarantee a t-shirt.

  • Middle School Knowledge Bowl

    Patty Peschel, Albany Area Schools Teacher Knowledge Bowl is a series of interdisciplinary academic competitions. During the competition, teams of students compete in written and oral rounds by answering questions related to all areas of learning typical of elementary or secondary educational programs. Questions test students' recall, problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Practice will be held twice a week on M/T from 3:15-4:15 pm, beginning October 14. Each team will have the opportunity to compete in meets this fall. Teams will leave for meets around 3:00 pm and will return around 8:00 pm. More information on meets will come once it's available. Transportation is included in the price of this class. Meet dates tbd.

    Middle School Play

    Paula van der Hagen, Albany Area Schools Teacher This middle school production will give students the opportunity to explore all aspects of theatre while getting time on stage in a fun, supportive, and creative environment. Each student will have a part in the play and will work on technical elements to bring the performance to life for an audience. Practices are Mondays-Thursdays from 3:30-5:00 pm and students will perform the afternoon of February 7. Play announced at a later date

We’ll teach you how to combine just the right amount of cake crumbs and buttercream icing to create tasty cake pops in fun Thanksgiving designs! You will learn to read a recipe & follow directions, how to melt candy melts and all about kitchen safety. At the end of this class you bring home some creative cake pops for your family!!
  • PotSpot Painting Fun

    PotSpot Instructors Join PotSpot to paint a fun decoration of your choice. We will provide an assortment of pieces, some with a fall theme. We bring the supplies, you bring the creativity! The PotSpot will fire your piece in their kiln and return it to school in about two weeks. Parents please pick up your child from the art classroom, enter through Kids Co doors (#4 at AVE and #5 at ALE).
  • Powder Ridge Ski Club

    Join our new Powder Ridge Ski club! Specify if you want transportation only, lesson, equipment rental (ski or snowboard) and lift ticket. Adult chaperones are needed and will receive free skiing (call Community Ed). All participants must ride the bus to and from Powder Ridge. Registration deadline is Monday, December 1 at Noon. Helmet fee is $12 extra, If min of 25 not met, club will be canceled. If providing your own equipment, it must have metal bottoms and retaining straps. Students must bring their own money to purchase grill and snack items at Powder Ridge. Not responsible for lost or stolen items. Ski club is dependent on Securing chaperones. Select your price: $225 (includes lift ticket, rental of equipment, and transportation) $170 (includes transportation and lift ticket; bring your own equipment) $80 (includes transportation; you have your own lift ticket and own equipment) *Transportation cost is not refundable Do you want us to charge $13 extra for a helmet for all 4 ski club dates?   • Snowmobile Safety

    Steve Weber, MN DNR Instructor In this class, students will learn all the rules and regulations of snowmobiling, general operation of a snowmobile, how to read and understand trail signs, proper hand signals and general safety concerns. Students will need to come with a completed online course certification. The online course is $29.95 payable to the MN DNR. The link is www.snowmobilecourse.com/usa/minnesota. Students need to complete the Youth Course Ages 11-15. Students will need to pass a driving test at the end of the course. Snowmobiles are provided for the test; however, students are required to bring their own snowmobile helmet (not allowed to share) and must come dressed for snowmobile riding (jackets, snow pants, boots, balaclava, gloves). Class will meet at the Albany Bowling Center/G'Suffa Haus Banquet Room. Students receive a temporary permit upon passing the course and a permanent permit from the state of MN by mail. This class is for 12-15 year old students. If a student turns 12 during this snowmobile season, they can take the class; however, certification is not valid until they turn 12 years old.   • Youth Bowling Program at ABC

    Steve Bates & ABC Staff Our youth bowling program is a great way to have fun and stay fit. Bowling promotes learning of math skills by calculating scores, figuring averages and learning mathematical systems to adjust to lane conditions and spare shooting. In addition, organized bowling programs provide life skills such as time management and understanding winning and losing. There are no barriers to participation and no one sits on the bench in bowling. Enjoy three games of fun each session and free use of bowling shoes. Pick your price - $189 with a new ball or other bowling accessory or $149 without. Students will bowl right after school at 12:30 pm on Early Release Days and at 3:30 pm on Non-School Days and At-Home Learning Days. Transportation for this program is not available through Albany Area Schools district transportation. There may be a transportation option available through the Albany Bowling Center.
