  • Babysitting 101

    Emergency Outfitters This course is best suited for 10-13 year olds interested in learning the current practices of caring for young children and how to manage their babysitting business. Students will learn safety and injury prevention, first aid basics, feeding and caring for infants and how to handle behavior problems. Students will receive a reference book, handouts, babysitting bag and first aid kit. Please bring a writing utensil, snacks, beverage(s), and lunch. Food will not be provided. Parents - please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the end of class to pick up your child.

    CSB/SJU Computer Science Club & Patty Peschel, Albany Area Schools Teacher Do you enjoy a good puzzle? Are you creative, and love to tackle problems in many different ways? Do you want to learn what Computer Science is all about and become a better problem solver along the way? CS Club is open to all students in grades 6-8. In CS Club, you will learn about coding and so much more. You will get to solve puzzles, learn how computers store information and communicate and practice working in a team. You will even get to program a real robot using Scratch! To start, we will come up with creative solutions for puzzles and challenges, and by the end of the 6-week program, we will be using our coding skills to help robots solve problems in the real world. Creativity is key, and no two solutions are ever quite the same!
  • FAST KIDS – Staying Safe While Home Alone

    Emergency Outfitters First Aid and Safety Trained (FAST) Kids is a course for 7-10 year old students. Lessons cover basic first aid, water safety, vehicle safety, home emergencies, injury prevention, personal safety and healthy living. This course helps prepare children for staying at home alone.     Learn the fundamentals of coding with Scratch to create a Nintendo-themed game! Inspire your student to pursue today’s most exciting technologies. Scratch uses colorful, visual blocks that fit together like Legos. Nintendo is a trademark of Nintendo of America Inc. This camp is not affiliated with them.     Tech Academy ntro to 3D Printing ►Grades 3-6 This 3D printing camp takes students through the 3D printing process from start to finish. Students will design their own keychains! No 3D printing experience is necessary, but familiarity with common tasks like using a computer and keyboarding is required. One design will be printed offline and mailed home. Students will practice their mental math, observe and continue patterns, solve basic functions, witness probability concepts, and relate sets and combinations.     Middle School Play

    Paula van der Hagen, Albany Area Schools Teacher This middle school production will give students the opportunity to explore all aspects of theatre while getting time on stage in a fun, supportive, and creative environment. Each student will have a part in the play and will work on technical elements to bring the performance to life for an audience. Practices are Mondays-Thursdays from 3:30-5:00 pm and students will perform the afternoon of February 7. Play announced at a later date
  • Moo, Cluck, Baa: Barnyard Bash: Stearns County 4-H Day Camp

    Stearns County 4-H This lively day camp will take campers on a fun-filled adventure to explore farm life, from caring for animals to learning about agriculture and farming practices. With a focus on animals like cows, chickens and sheep (and even some fun animal-inspired crafts), kids will gain an appreciation for where our food comes from and how animals and plants are interwoven in farm life.

Build different biomes or base a section on your favorite movie or video game! We will be using the Minecraft Java edition. We’ll teach you how to combine just the right amount of cake crumbs and buttercream icing to create tasty cake pops in fun Thanksgiving designs! You will learn to read a recipe & follow directions, how to melt candy melts and all about kitchen safety. At the end of this class you bring home some creative cake pops for your family!!
  • PotSpot Painting Fun

    PotSpot Instructors Join PotSpot to paint a fun decoration of your choice. We will provide an assortment of pieces, some with a fall theme. We bring the supplies, you bring the creativity! The PotSpot will fire your piece in their kiln and return it to school in about two weeks. Parents please pick up your child from the art classroom, enter through Kids Co doors (#4 at AVE and #5 at ALE).
  • STEM Culinary Crafts

    Char Bzdok This Culinary STEM class is designed for kids to learn some Biology/Chemistry concepts as well as learn cooking techniques. We will be making two edible crafts: Edible DNA & Wintery Popcorn. Let’s have some fun while we cook, eat and learn about DNA, Genetics and Popcorn Chemistry!
  • Snowmobile Safety

    Steve Weber, MN DNR Instructor In this class, students will learn all the rules and regulations of snowmobiling, general operation of a snowmobile, how to read and understand trail signs, proper hand signals and general safety concerns. Students will need to come with a completed online course certification. The online course is $29.95 payable to the MN DNR. The link is www.snowmobilecourse.com/usa/minnesota. Students need to complete the Youth Course Ages 11-15. Students will need to pass a driving test at the end of the course. Snowmobiles are provided for the test; however, students are required to bring their own snowmobile helmet (not allowed to share) and must come dressed for snowmobile riding (jackets, snow pants, boots, balaclava, gloves). Class will meet at the Albany Bowling Center/G'Suffa Haus Banquet Room. Students receive a temporary permit upon passing the course and a permanent permit from the state of MN by mail. This class is for 12-15 year old students. If a student turns 12 during this snowmobile season, they can take the class; however, certification is not valid until they turn 12 years old.
