  • Huskie Archery Team

    Albany Area Community Education is proud to offer the National Archery in the Schools Program. Both new and returning archery students are welcome! Our trained instructors will focus on teaching proper skills and safety for the sport of archery. All necessary equipment for participation is provided. Only NASP approved equipment is permitted to be used in practice or at tournaments (personal Genesis Bows will be allowed but must be approved by coaching staff prior to use). Practices will be held on Sunday evenings in the BECC. Additional practices may be added, depending on gym and coach availability. New archery team members will be required to do safety training the first evening of class. Layout for practices will be a little different this year: First 3 Practices: Separated by Beginners or Returning Sun Dec 8, 15, 22 Beginners (First Time in NASP or first time was this past summer): 5:00-6:00 pm Returning (In NASP Last Season): 6:00-7:00 pm Remaining Practices: Choose Your Time Preference Sun Jan 5-Mar 30 (No Class 12/24, 12/31, 1/26, or 3/9) The last practice will be the banquet which is included in this cost. Session 1: 5:00-6:00 pm OR Session 2: 6:00-7:00 pm You will select your preference for practice time in Eleyo upon registration. We will do our best to accommodate your preference. Please be checking your emails as we send out lots of updates in this program. Archery is coached by volunteer coaches that have gone through training and background checks. We could not do this program without their commitment, so please make sure to thank them and be respectful of their time. Parents are asked to be quiet during practices and to keep other children at home if possible. No food or drink should be brought into the BECC. Tournaments will be held on Saturdays at the below locations. Everyone will be registered for the Albany Huskie Archery Tournament on February 22, 2025. All other tournament registrations are optional and will be an additional fee of $10 per tournament. Tournament registration and deadlines to register will be shared as they are made available. Parents will be responsible for transporting their students to tournaments. Team members participating in tournaments will be assigned a one-hour flight slot and they will be free to leave after their flight. You must participate in 2 tournaments in order to be eligible at the state tournament.     Aaron Schwenzfeier, Strength & Conditioning Coach Huskie Sports Performance-Fundamentals introduces athletes to developmentally appropriate training with the most up to date training methods for middle school age students. Consistent time and effort spent training in the program will translate into improved performance in any athlete’s respective sport. Monthly sessions will be held from 7:15-8:00 am in the MSHS Weight Room.

  • Powder Ridge Ski Club

    Join our new Powder Ridge Ski club! Specify if you want transportation only, lesson, equipment rental (ski or snowboard) and lift ticket. Adult chaperones are needed and will receive free skiing (call Community Ed). All participants must ride the bus to and from Powder Ridge. Registration deadline is Thursday, Dec 19 at Noon. Helmet fee is $12 extra, Lesson fee is $15 extra (for first two dates). If min of 25 not met, club will be canceled. If providing your own equipment, it must have metal bottoms and retaining straps. Students must bring their own money to purchase grill and snack items at Powder Ridge. Not responsible for lost or stolen items.     Grab your friends and enjoy Minnesota’s beautiful winter weather at Powder Ridge in Kimball! This is a non-school day! Fee options include: transportation, equipment rental and lift ticket. Students must bring their own money to purchase grill and snack items at Powder Ridge. Not responsible for lost or stolen items. Adult chaperones are needed and will receive free skiing. This trip will max at 50 students and 2 adult chaperones. All participants must ride the bus to and from Powder Ridge. Bus will leave from Door 1. Registration deadline is Thursday, January 2 at Noon. If providing your own equipment, it must have metal bottoms and retaining straps. Note: If you want to rent a helmet, it is an extra $8 fee. If you want to have a lesson, it is an extra $10 fee.   • Quan Li K'an Karate Youth Class

    Adam Patterson, 6th Degree Black Belt The beginner class will focus on the fundamentals of Karate which include kicking, punching and forms. The program is taught using a series of group exercises and interactive games. Students will learn basic Karate moves and personal self defense in a fun and fast paced environment with an emphasis on discipline and self confidence. Uniforms are encouraged but are not needed to attend class. Uniforms are required for testing if the student wants to advance to the next rank. New students who register before the third class receive a free uniform.
  • Saturday Youth Basketball

    Join the fun as we play basketball! The season will start with a basketball clinic, hosted by our Huskie Varsity Coaches & Players, on Saturday, January 4 from 9:00-10:00 am; meet in the BECC for this clinic! Beginning January 11, students will be randomly split into teams (Girls and Boys in Grades K-1, 2-3, 4-5) and will meet on Saturdays for an hour - 30 minutes of drills/practice followed by 30 minutes of informal scrimmaging. Emphasis will be on teamwork, learning basketball fundamentals and having fun. Score will not be kept. Jerseys for Saturday Youth Basketball are the same as they have been in the past (no need to order a new one if you have one that fits your child). Program fee is $53 with new jersey order or $36 without new jersey order. Registration deadline for jerseys: Friday, Dec 20 at noon. Parent coaches are integral to the success of this program and will receive one FREE registration! Coaches are asked to attend the Basketball Clinic on January 4 to learn age-appropriate skills and drills to focus on throughout the season.   • Soccer Saturdays

    Albany-Avon Soccer Club Playing soccer is great exercise that increases coordination, improves strength and enhances flexibility. Soccer Saturdays will give players the opportunity to explore the game of soccer and practice the skills necessary to play the game. Boys and girls will practice and play together. Players will work on skills and indoor scrimmages.
  • Spring Youth Swim Camp

    Coach Crumley Love the water? Here's your chance to learn to be a competitive swimmer! This camp will give you an introduction to all four competitive strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly), teach you corresponding turns for each, and show the proper technique for racing starts off the blocks. The last day of class will include a fun mini-meet. Must be able to swim 25 yards of front crawl without stopping. Register by March 24 to guarantee a t-shirt. All participants will need to enter and exit Door 18, which is by the West Staff parking lot.
  • Youth Bowling Program at ABC

    Steve Bates & ABC Staff Our youth bowling program is a great way to have fun and stay fit. Bowling promotes learning of math skills by calculating scores, figuring averages and learning mathematical systems to adjust to lane conditions and spare shooting. In addition, organized bowling programs provide life skills such as time management and understanding winning and losing. There are no barriers to participation and no one sits on the bench in bowling. Enjoy three games of fun each session and free use of bowling shoes. Pick your price - $179 with a new ball or other bowling accessory or $139 without. Transportation is not available through Albany Area Schools district transportation. After school transportation may be available by the bowling alley (call 845-4732). Any student being picked up at school by an alternate pick up must send a parent note to school stating who will be picking up their child. Students will bowl at 12:30 pm on Early Release Days and at 3:30 pm on Non-School Days and At-Home Learning Days. ***Transportation will not be provided by the Albany Bowling Center on Early Release Days, Non-School Days and At-Home Learning Days.

    Get Outdoors MN Parents - enjoy time to yourselves while your child has fun in the great outdoors! Our licensed staff will facilitate learning experiences using a play-based learning approach. Park Play Camps are committed to offering the balance of self-directed and self-driven learning through inquiry, play, and freedoms to design & create. Campers can expect to engage in healthy risk-taking and “soft”/”essential”/”life” skills (i.e. the interpersonal attributes of communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creation). (Child must be toilet trained to attend.) As the date approaches, you will be emailed specific information such as the address of the park, the location in the park to drop off the camper, what to pack, and what to expect.
